fthm1How to Have a Stress Free Wedding

The day of your wedding is finally approaching! You’ve dreamt of this day since you were a little girl and you’ve spent a year planning for this...the biggest day of your life. You want everything to be perfect. Some brides spend the last few days before their weddings obsessing over every last detail. By the day of the ceremony, they’re stressed out, exhausted and cranky. Here are 6 tips to keep your wedding day calm and stress free.

The Days Before the Wedding

1

Delegate

Once you’ve done all the planning and made all the arrangements, you can delegate the final confirmations to someone else. The last thing you need to be doing on the day before your wedding is calling the florist, caterer, pastor, etc. Let your wedding planner do this for you—if any little problems pop up, she can take care of them.

2

Focus on someone else.

You’ve spent the last several months focusing on yourself—your flowers, your dress, your appearance, etc. You want to look perfect for your day... but that puts a lot of pressure on you. Get your mind off your wedding for a day or two and focus on others. Take your nieces and nephews to the park and swing on the swings, spend some time with your grandma, or volunteer in your community.

3

Indulge in a pampering day.

The day before the wedding, everyone’s tensions are high. Take your bridal party ladies out for a nice day of pampering: massages, manicures, pedicures and facials.

The Day of the Wedding

4

Let go of expectations.

Take a deep breath and let all your expectations go. The truth is that sometimes, crazy things happen. The flowers are late, the cake is the wrong flavor, the flower girl gets the stomach flu. Let it all go—today is the day you get to marry the man you love. You want to remember your wedding day as a day of love... not a day when you spent 30 minutes yelling at the florist.

5

Have a professional do your hair and makeup.

If you’ve ever had a bad hair day on a day when you wanted to look great, you know that today is a great day to have someone else do your hair. Find a professional in advance and run through what you want so there aren’t any surprises. Then on your big day, settle into a chair, relax and let someone else make you beautiful.

6

Take a minute to be alone.

As you get dressed, everyone is fussing around you and frantically getting themselves dressed and ready. Give yourself a few minutes before the ceremony to sit quietly alone. Find a quiet spot, close your eyes and focus on breathing. Your heart rate and blood pressure will decrease and you’ll feel much less stressed. Now you’re ready to say, "I Do!"
